Applications Now Open for a Unique Opportunity to Study with the Royal Northern College of Music in Seoul
As part of BIEK Global Arts Week 2026, BIEK LLP is delighted to announce a series of exclusive piano masterclasses to be delivered by distinguished faculty members from the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM).
Taking place on 29 and 30 July 2026 at the Rode Arts Center, Seoul, these masterclasses will provide talented pianists with the rare opportunity to receive intensive individual tuition from two of the United Kingdom's leading piano pedagogues.
The masterclasses will be led by:
Professor Simon Callaghan – International concert pianist and Professor of Piano at the Royal Northern College of Music.
Professor Graham Scott – Head of Keyboard Studies at the Royal Northern College of Music and one of Britain's most respected piano educators.
Both professors will travel from Manchester to Seoul as part of RNCM's participation in BIEK Global Arts Week 2026, where they will also adjudicate the RNCM Seoul International Piano Competition, perform in the Faculty Concert, and conduct admissions auditions for prospective RNCM students.
Bringing Conservatoire-Level Education to Korea
The masterclasses form one of the central educational elements of BIEK Global Arts Week.
Participants will receive detailed individual coaching from RNCM professors, gaining insight into artistic interpretation, technical refinement, stylistic understanding, performance preparation and professional musicianship. Rather than simply focusing on technical accuracy, the sessions are designed to encourage deeper musical understanding and artistic development through direct interaction with internationally recognised performers and teachers.
For many young musicians, opportunities to receive one-to-one tuition from professors of a leading British conservatoire would normally require travelling overseas. Through this initiative, BIEK and RNCM are bringing that experience directly to Seoul.
Part of a Comprehensive Week of International Music Education
The masterclasses sit alongside a wider programme of events taking place during BIEK Global Arts Week 2026, including:
RNCM Seoul International Piano Competition
Faculty Concert featuring RNCM professors and distinguished Korean artists
Award Winners' Gala Concert
RNCM undergraduate and postgraduate auditions
Together these activities create a week that combines competition, performance, education and international collaboration within a single programme.
Strengthening UK–Korea Educational Partnerships
BIEK Global Arts Week reflects BIEK LLP's commitment to developing meaningful educational partnerships between the United Kingdom and the Republic of Korea.
By working alongside one of Britain's most prestigious conservatoires, BIEK continues to create opportunities for Korean students to engage directly with internationally recognised educators while strengthening long-term academic and cultural links between the two countries.
The masterclasses represent more than individual lessons—they demonstrate how sustained international collaboration can broaden educational opportunities, encourage artistic excellence and foster lasting relationships between British and Korean institutions.
