Kim Jeong-gyeom, the People Power Party's preliminary candidate for Uijeongbu Gap, signed an MOU on January 19th at the BIEK office in Cheongna, Incheon, for the attraction of an international school to Uijeongbu.
BIEK, an agency authorized to establish British international schools, has signed MOUs for the establishment of Kings College with Yeongjong Island Parents Alliance, IFEZ Global Citizens Council Yeongjong District, and Yeongjong International City General Association.
The memorandum for the establishment of a prestigious British school in Uijeongbu was signed by Kim Jeong-gyeom, Henry Aronsson, head of BIEK headquarters, and Choi Byung-do, the representative of the Korean branch, each signing the document.
Choi Byung-do, the representative of BIEK, stated, "The attraction of international schools is underway in Yeongjong Island. Incheon Economic Free Zone Authority has been conducting a recruitment contest in December 2023, as they determined that Yeongjong Island, along with Songdo and Cheongna, was the only place in the Incheon Economic Free Zone without an international school," promising active support for the attraction of an international school to Uijeongbu.
Kim Jeong-gyeom emphasized, "Uijeongbu has been in a disadvantaged position educationally, culturally, and economically due to the logic of national security. Now, Uijeongbu must become the center of South Korea where education, culture, and the economy flourish by attracting prestigious international schools."
